Publishing Project Manager Oxford 2 month contract initially £200 - £250/day To start ASAP The ideal candidate will have: - Project Management experience - Managed projects in the Publishing Sector The purpose of the role is to plan and manage the initial development and ongoing maintenance and development of new and live online products. Duties include: Managing the full product life cycle of planning, design, development, testing, launch, and ongoing maintenance. Playing an active role in market research for new and existing products and evaluating and presenting appropriate technical options. Preparing detailed supplier requirements documentation to ensure that products are clearly specified, post-design phase changes are minimized, and products are delivered to budget, within scope, on schedule, and meet user needs. Preparing Requests for Proposals and supporting documentation to enable suppliers to accurately quote for new or existing projects. Reviewing and managing ongoing supplier performance under any Service Level Agreements or continuing contractual terms. Commissioning, briefing, and managing external or internal designers to ensure that all designs meet publishing and business requirements. Preparing annual overhead and first cost budgets for new and existing projects. Monitoring budgets by keeping expenditure under continued review, initiating action to ensure budgets are met, reporting regularly to stakeholders, and recommending savings/reallocation as required. We are also looking for the candidate to have the following skills and experience: Prince 2 Proven experience of online product development, supplier management and project management Able to demonstrate a pragmatic and proactive approach to project management Effective communication, influencing, and negotiation skills in order to be a 'value-add' interface for the business between external suppliers and internal stakeholders Experience of managing external suppliers on a day-to-day and project-by-project basis Confident and collaborative team leadership skills (ability to work with staff at all levels of the business, including senior stakeholders, plus managing and co-ordinating a 'virtual team' of staff from other functions) Sound business sense and market-driven approach to product development Publishing experience, in particular an understanding of editorial and production processes as they affect a final product An understanding of the online and electronic market and its requirements, particularly those of the library sector A reasonable understanding of XML or other structured data and its relationship to functionality which exploits that content An understanding of access control and subscription requirements for online products An understanding of industry standards relating to online products If you feel you have the necessary skills and experience for this role please email a copy of your CV.
